1) Although the majority of evidence shows that it is futile, subliminal messaging is constantly being pumped into mainstream media.
2) I will start my argument by explaining what subliminal messaging is and the science behind it. I will focus on a brief history of it and explain the parts of the brain that may receive information subconsciously. The rest of the paper will focus on examples that have been used in different forms, with an emphasis on subaudible messaging and the use of backward masking in rock music.
3) Most of the sources that I am using were found using library databases. They are mainly old newspaper and magazine articles. I will also be using a few books, such as The Hidden Persuaders, which was the first book ever written on subliminal messaging and really launched the idea that it is a method used by advertisers to brainwash people.
4) My favorite source is a scientific article written by a college professor from Stone Hill. He goes into the science of subliminal messaging, such as how a hidden message can subconsciously enter the brain. He then explains the different types of subliminal messaging that have been found, how well they work, and gives examples.
5) One interesting thing that I've learned about this is how much it really is used, and even though it's illegal, people always get away with it.
